Messing with Picasa

There were some great rock textures and dead trees on the hogback ridge walk. Stacy and I messed with the photo saturations:

Dinosaurs!

We went to Dinasaur ridge and I couldn't resist walking amongst the dinasaur tracks.

As Stacy tried to tell me, this was not allowed.

Here is the rode we climbed. It was about a 2 mile trip in the sun:

This was the location of the first stegosaurus fossils. So of course, there were patriotic dinosaurs.

Quandary Photos

Here are some photos Lenny took of our hike. My legs have been sore for three days.

Farting at 14,000 Feet

We hiked Mount Quandary, starting at about 11,000 feet and reaching about 14,200 feet over a distance of 3.3 miles. It kicked my butt, but Stacy did real well. She drove us and got me Ibuprofen afterwards.

Check Lenny's Blog for some pics and videos. Check the Saturday, July 19, 2008 Blog entry.

Tonight we are going to the Denver Midnight Ride.

North Trails at Vail

Lenny gave me this pic, I was tired on the climb up the Lookout Gulch trail from Golden. I thought I was going to puke (but fortunately didn't.) The way down was a blast.

Here is a film of a tough section that threw us off the bikes the first time (I climbed up and tried a second time).

Lenny stayed back and caught a shot of me on the singletrack down.

On Wednesday night, after riding the alpine slide with Kris, Sarah, and Stacy and after watching the movie Labyrinth and eating Kris's summer sausage, Lenny and I drove to Vail and passed out. We rode the north trails of Vail. The two pictures below were taken after about 9 miles of climbing.

The next pic was a few miles into the descent. It was quiet there. The little purple flowers were everywhere. Check out all those Aspen trees in the background. They are actually all part of one tree.

Len took a nice video of Jeff and Mel riding in this section. Mel asks if we "heard the Indians." Lenny, Jeff, and Mel make Indian noises as they ride. Although Mel does it when the downhill rides scare her. Lenny and Jeff just imitate.

I also like this video. Jeff dedicated this switchback (a super sharp turn in the trail) to Mario. Check out the drop off. I pooped myself after I rode through it.

Stacy and Jim

Stacy and her uncle Jim after the ride in Eagle. He rides a sweet Ibis.

Jim taught Stacy how to change her tires.

I especially liked the old double chair.

We learned that Eagle has fantastic single track.

My Birthday and some

My birthday was on Friday, July 11th. Lenny and I rode throughout the city for about 15-20 miles and then ate some lunch. Stacy got home from work at 5:30pm and we went to eat Chili Relenos at Benny's. The food is damn good. Stacia and Lenny met us there. Stacia got us hooks for our keys - since we can never find them. A fantastic gift - if only she had given us the gift a day earlier (Stacy lost her keys on Thursday). Lenny gave me a gift card at REI, perhaps the greatest store on Earth. Afterwards, we went to the hi-dive for a comedy show.

On the next day, Stacy took me to the Renaissance festival (which is where we took the above picture). We showed up at 11am to watch the first Joust of the day. We grabed some medieval looking turkey legs and ate fatty meat as knights fought each other.

I felt a little sick after and thought that maybe Christina might be right about the whole not-eating-meat thing. Still, it was super fun.It reminded me of the trips I used to go on with my mom. Also, there were some pretty sweet siege weapons (reminiscent of AOEII).

On Sunday, Stacy played kickball and I read a book. We rode our bikes around a bunch and then went to sleep.

Yesterday, Lenny and I rode from Golden to Lookout road and up some more. The ride was about 10 miles. I was dead after. It was a tough climb. This link describes some of the trail, but we did another 3 miles. We did the section that most riders avoid (because the climb is really hard). The elevation gain is about 1,900 feet. Link.

The New Bike

I bought a specialized FSR XC Comp:

http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=32566

Its red.

I rode in the front range with Lenny on Thursday and up Vail Mountain on Friday with Jeff, Mel, and Lenny. Check out Len's pics and videos from July: http://lenonlife.blogspot.com/

Don't miss the pics from Tetris. That was fun and I will start that soon in NY.

Stacy and I rode throughout some singletrack in Eagle today with her uncle.

Stacy fell on a cow bridge. Basically, its a little bridge that is supposed to stop cows (and Stacy) from crossing the path.

But the rides there were fantastic. The singletrack was tight and the uphills fast. I especially liked the prairie dogs running across the trail.

We caught two days of fireworks this year, one in Eagle and the other tonight in Denver. It was fun, but the traffic after the show made us late for Chris's fashion show. Lenny got a few shots of the naked girls around Chris. Hopefully, Len will post those pics soon.

First Tuesday

After riding Stacy to word and reading some of "It", I rode to Stacia's for a day at Water World - a totally sweet water park.

http://www.waterworldcolorado.com/

I bought my Splash Pass for the Summer and have been named "Fuzzy Walrus". I spent my first day there with Red Snapper (Stacia) and Sea Bass (Ryan). I can't wait to meet Big Tuna and all the others.

For Dinner, I made a chicken chili platter. It gave us plenty of energy for Kickball practice.

Today should be interesting. The time has come to purchase the dual suspension mountain bike and ride with Lenny on the front range.

I might even get a chance to use my new library card!
